Philip Greenberg is a Brooklyn, NY–based photographer whose work blurs the line between photojournalism and fine art.
His photography captures the essence of urban and everyday life with an eye attuned to irony, tension, and fleeting beauty -
revealing the quiet choreography of the world around us. His images bring the aesthetic consciousness of painting into the reactive, unpredictable world of the street: the action stops, chaos momentarily aligns, and the world composes itself. The viewer is not simply witnessing a fleeting event, but a living still life suspended in time.
A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design
(BFA, Photography), he was a member of the founding team that created and launched the original New York Observer, which led to a 20-year career photographing for The New York Times.
Philip’s work has been exhibited at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (Vertigo Show and Benefit) and the Museum of
Contemporary Photography, Chicago (The Crossover of Art and Photojournalism exhibition and lecture series).
He has also been a guest lecturer for
the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, the International Center of Photography, and the Journalism schools
at New York University and Columbia University
